Taking Design from Inspiration to Wedding Day

I am often asked how do we come up with a look that celebrates who the couple is on their wedding day? The answer is never clear cut - sometimes it happens within the first few minutes of my very first interactions with client. Other times, it takes getting to know the couple - letting their 'couple's taste' evolve during the process, and going back to the drawing board a few times. That was the case with our lovely Carter and Jen. Wellwed magazine asked us to share our insights as they showcased our process from the Inspiration board to the wedding day. There are some great tips in this article for clients and vendors setting out to showcase their personal style on the big day.
Enjoy!

Special thanks to Wellwed Magazine for featuring us in the Spring/Summer 2010 issue out on newstands now!

Nantucket Wedding Featured on Boston Hearts Wedding Blog

We are thrilled that one of our June weddings from last year is being featured today on the blog Boston Hearts Weddings. Leila and Steve were married at First Congregational Church followed by a tented reception at a family home.

Leila is a girl after my own heart - she loves the color pink! Her pastel colors were perfect for a hot summer day. There were lots of peonies, garden roses, dahlias and hydrangea at this wedding. A very romantic, soft look. Thanks to the other vendors involved in the fun: Event Planning by Acktivities, photography by Claudia Kronenberg, catering by A Taste of Nantucket, tent by Sperry Tents, cake by Jodi's Cakes, and rentals by Placesetters.

Congratulations Leila and Steve - so fun to relive the day with you again.
Cheers,
Dawn

Inspiration Comes From.......

...everywhere. For me, it could be looking at all the store windows on Madison Avenue, taking a stroll on the beaches of Nantucket, reading a restaurant's menu - you get the idea. A few weekends ago some friends and I ended up on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx. People who know me well know that I LOVE desserts, and I have no problem skipping dinner and having something sweet. I put this inspiration board together from our walk around the area. What do I see when I look at this? A color scheme of ivory, cream, wheat, and eggplant. Mismatched containers on the table filled with garden roses, tree peonies, peris japonica, schwarzwalder callas and Charlie Brown orchids. Gold crackle chargers, amber glassware, eggplant ribbon wrapped around a napkin with an acorn for embellishment. All the makings for a great tablescape. What would you dream up?
