A
conversation with Dawn…..
How would you describe your style? Dramatic! And dramatic can be expressed as elegant, whimsical, modern or classic. But whether my clients prefer elegance or whimsy, they are always delighted with the choices I offer because I add the unexpected. I like to incorporate berries, pods, fruits, and other interesting elements to our floral creations. Even personal flowers such as boutonnieres and corsages are exciting. They always contain little touches, elements, and finishes to make them stand out.
What is important to
you?
Delighting my clients. And delighting a client is accomplished by getting the details right and by insisting on the very best quality, not only in the flowers but also in the accessories and all design elements we produce - -- it’s not enough for me to find flowers that merely blend in or are of similar color. Fortunately, I have a strong eye for detail, and I’m a perfectionist at heart!
What does event design mean and how does that relate to flowers?
Flowers are only a part of the overall design of an event. We started out doing just flowers and offering ideas for décor. I always have a strong vision when working with a client and while we may do a great job with the look of the floral design, some things would get missed on the rest of the design. It can really ruin the look of a party. So we grew into the event design aspect naturally. Our design team can create magical settings and unique atmospheres so that when your guests walk in, they really do say ‘wow!’. Many guests travel quite a distance to be a part of a couple’s special day, and we take that very seriously. We really want guests to have so much fun that they don’t want to leave.
You’ve mentioned color a number of times …
Color! I love color and am not afraid to use it. I feel like an artist whose palette is flowers instead of paints. I can take fabric swatches, and create bouquets to perfectly complement and accent the bride’s gown, the bridesmaids’ dresses. For other events, I can develop a theme of color that clients can use as a base for the entire event. Color is powerful. It can set an energetic tone or a subdued feeling.
What would you say sets Soiree apart?
I truly care about making each event unique. My reputation is on the line. I am intimately involved in the design process, from the first consultation right up to and including the day of the event. Our design team works hard to create and design atmospheres that your guests feel comfortable in and can truly enjoy during your function. In addition, my hand touches everything that goes out of my studio, and I have set the bar for quality very high. My work reflects my deep love -- my passion -- for flowers and design.
